Welcome to the TEI by Example project!

The final component of each TEI by Example module is an interactive encoding exercise. Along with a facsimile or example text, assignments are presented that invite you to complete the TEI encoding of these text fragments, bringing into practice the concepts from the corresponding TEI by Example tutorial section.

The assignments can be performed interactively using the TEI by Example Validator, an application that in real-time parses any XML you enter, and produces a report, telling you if it qualifies as valid TEI, or if there are any errors. For the exercise to module 8. “Customising TEI, ODD, Roma,” the Roma web application, developed by the TEI consortium, is embedded, thus allowing you to create your own TEI customization on the spot.

Below is an overview of all TEI by Example exercise sections.
